THE Champions League theme will not be played prior to Rangers' game with Napoli this week, according to reports.

It's been said that British clubs playing on home soil in the UEFA competition will not play the anthem before their matches.

It has been stated this is due to the mourning period following the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Telegraph claim that the song 'Champions League' will not be blasted over PA systems ahead of kick-offs this week.

Rangers' matchday two game with Napoli was yesterday pushed back 24-hours by UEFA.

European football's governing body cited limitations on police resources as the main factor in the decision.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City all play home matches this midweek too, meaning the song will not be played at these grounds either.
