Rangers transfer guru John Park is reportedly being considered to become the Hibs director of football.

It's claimed the experienced backroom staff member is on a shortlist of possible candidates to join the Easter Road setup.

The Scottish Sun report that Park is a leading candidate for the job with Hibs searching for a director of football to assist manager Lee Johnson and chief executive Ben Kensell.

Park joined Rangers in July to work alongside Ross Wilson to identify talents. He previously worked as a recruitment chief for Celtic. Park also worked for Hibs as an academy director for nine years.

Now, he could be approached over a return to Easter Road in the newly created director of football position.

But it's claimed it would need to be a "significant offer" to tempt Park to jump ship with guarantees on decision making required.

Announcing the plan to appoint a director of football, Hibs chief Kensell said: “I’m excited that we can bring in a Director of Football and believe it will considerably benefit the Club.

“I have worked with Directors of Football before, so I have a full understanding of the difference they can make.

“This decision was made following a thorough review that has taken place over the last few months, and The Board was unanimously behind making this appointment."

He added: “Our desire to make the Club successful hasn’t wavered, and we’re hoping that bringing in a Director of Football will help mirror our off-the-pitch success, so we can achieve our sporting ambitions."
