The timing of Jimmy Thelin's arrival at Aberdeen has been questioned by prominent pundits Kris Boyd and Michael Stewart.
The Swede will start his position at Pittodrie at the beginning of June following his appointment earlier this month.
The Elfsborg head coach will take over from interim manager Peter Leven, who replaced Neil Warnock, who replaced Barry Robson.
There's been a raft of changes at the club since the start of the campaign, and both Boyd and Stewart believe Thelin should've been brought in to start his job immediately rather than wait until the summer.
"I don't know what is going on," Boyd told Sky Sports. "If you have appointed a manager, why would you not get him in right now? This needs one needs to work for Aberdeen Football Club. Why is he not in the building right now?
"You can say that he is having a look at them and watching games, but the reality is that if you are still in charge of another club then you are not giving your all to that. He's lost the last three games since being appointed as well, so that tells me that his players have already downed tools.

"So just get him now. This summer for Aberdeen Football Club is huge. Kelle Roos and Connor Barron are out of contract and you'd imagine the ones that have been linked Duk and (Bojan) Miovski will move on. You are going to have to get players in the building.
"They finished third last year but their recruitment in the summer was terrible. They are going to have to nail it this summer."
Stewart said on BBC: "This is a ridiculous conversation. As a manager why take over? A manager is coming into the club and you have an opportunity for him to have five games to have a look at the squad. There is no better opportunity than now. Not in June, now. Whether Aberdeen were going to get relegated or not, that is down to the manager in charge.
"Do you honestly think Jimmy Thelin is going to look at that team and think, 'Oh my word if I go in they could get relegated'. There is no way. As a manager you are going to look at it and go, 'I will get an opportunity to get the best out of them and it gives me a great head start going into the new season."
