vehicles while being used in connection with the works. The prohibition on pedestrians imposed also does not apply to a person while carrying out any duty in relation to the works, while carrying out any duty in relation to the maintenance or improvement of the trunk road, while carrying out any duty in connection with the removal of any obstruction to traffic, while engaged in connection with fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes; or leaving a vehicle which is prevented from proceeding by circumstances
beyond their control. The speed restriction does not
apply to vehicles being used in an emergency for fire
and rescue, coastguard, ambulance or police purposes,
or to vehicles driven by the Special Forces for training
or national security purposes.
Alternative routes for traffic in relation to the length
