Ewan Paton is a sports writer for Newsquest across a range of their national Scottish titles, including The Herald, Glasgow Times, The National, Rangers Review, The Celtic Way, and Scottish Rugby News. Ewan started his career as a freelancer, having graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2019, working for The Scottish Sun and Ayrshire Weekly News as a news, sports and social media reporter. Newsquest headhunted him in September 2021, and has primarily worked on the digital team, while gaining vital hands-on experience at matches and press conferences, covering a variety of sports from football to rugby and basketball to golf. Ewan also leads the company's dedicated Kilmarnock FC coverage with the Killie Chronicle on Substack. This idea was forged after he spotted a gap in the market to cover the Ayrshire side, after developing a 1,200-strong readership on a weekly newsletter titled The Rugby Road Gates.
