Social media is a rumour mill at the best of times but never more so than during transfer deadline day.

Rangers are still open to another deal after already signing James Sands and Amad Diallo on loan from New York City and Manchester United respectively.

Given the change in philosophy from Steven Gerrard to Giovanni van Bronckhorst has seen the midfield move to two attacking players with one sitting, the Ibrox men look light on those capable of breaking forward from deep.

Only Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo are established in this type of role which has led to speculation the Ibrox men may move to add another in this area.

And that’s where Aaron Ramsey, a world-class operator in this role, comes in – according to the Twitter rumour mill.

Multiple accounts have linked the star with a move to Govan provoking early excitement.

The 31-year-old Welshman left Arsenal for Juventus in 2019 but he’s now very much surplus to requirements in Turin.

He’s been reportedly offered around the Premier League with Wolves and Burnley heavily linked but there have been no takers so far.

And there’s one big reason a move to Rangers would likely be impossible.

He is currently on a £400k a week contract with the Bianconeri.

Yup, not a year, nor a month. A week.

It’s safe to say Juventus would have to be open to paying a very considerable chunk of his salary to make a deal happen.

Deadline day may have just begun, but the fun has already well and truly started!
