Jon McLaughlin: Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s big selection call came in goals and conceded right away, although there wasn’t much blame attached to the opener. That aside, his only involvement was to claim a second-half cross and hold a tame header. 6

James Tavernier: Starting his fifth season as captain, he was afforded license to under and overlap in the first half and although at times Tavernier combined with Wright, his final ball was blocked more often than not. Found the top corner brilliantly to secure three points. 8

Connor Goldson: Was heavily involved in possession and got high enough to flash a cross from the byline early on. A late tackle on Nouble earned him a caution and thereafter he was walking a tightrope. Made one very good recovery tackle as Nouble entered the box. 6

John Souttar: Making his competitive Rangers debut, Souttar made his first error for the club within minutes. Letting Joel Nouble turn him following a flick-on, the centre-back was rolled easily as Livingston took the lead and never recovered. A difficult afternoon for the big defender. 4

Borna Barisic: Stood off his man as Livi flicked the ball into the box to take the lead. His deliveries into the box lacked quality and were regularly cleared with ease. Tucked inside after the break but barely contributed aside from a mishit cross that clipped the post. 5

Glen Kamara: Handed the midfield spot next to Lundstram, Kamara played slightly ahead of his partner in a bid to run beyond the backline. At times, his distribution was slow and lacking incision and overall the Finnish midfielder offered little offensively. 6

Rangers Review:

John Lundstram: Switched the ball with accuracy in the opening 10 minutes but saw his influence wane as silly tackles and a poor tempo disrupted Rangers’ flow. Not his most influential game, but the midfielder kept Rangers going when tempo dropped. 6

Scott Wright: With Rabbi Matondo missing through injury, Wright was in from the off. Won two or three fouls and interchanged with Tavernier but couldn’t make the difference with his delivery. Perhaps unfortunate to be the man subbed at the break but Tom Lawrence: Tried a couple of pop shots from the edge of the box that flew over the bar. Tracked back with aggression but couldn’t get on the end of any deliveries. 6

Ryan Kent: Often overdid his attacking attempts in the first period, regularly chopping back one to many times. Didn’t add a goal threat or provide a meaningful delivery until his left-footed cross was converted by Colak, before the linesman adjudged it to be offside. Kept going and got the all-important assist to equalise. Never hid and continued to take on Nicky Devlin one-v-one. 7

Antonio Colak: The Croatian was totally uninvolved before the break. Couldn’t connect with a cross or combine with any of his teammates. Had the ball in the net before the hour but saw a commanding header chopped off by the linesman. Won the free-kick that turned the game but clearly still adjusting. 6

Substitutes

Malik Tillman: Came on at the break and should’ve equalised soon after when he hit the keeper instead of the net from close range. Took the ball in well and offered his team an attacking passing option. Helped to change the game overall. 7

James Sands: Did his job after coming off the bench. 5

Scott Arfield: Made his mark and took his opportunity from the bench to bring the score level, flicking a header in at the back post. 7

Ryan Jack: Helped to see out the game. 4
