Robby McCrorie: Michael Beale was true to his word and handed McCrorie his first appearance of a frustrated season. The 25-year-old had nothing to do until he spread himself excellently to deny Duk from close range. Tipped over a Matty Pollock header after the break and he staked his claim to start for the rest of the season. 7

James Tavernier: Always offered an outlet down the right but crossing into the box was unlikely to prove successful against Aberdeen’s three centre-backs. Wasn’t really tested defensively and it was a steady performance from the Rangers captain. 6

Connor Goldson: His importance to Rangers was highlighted during his recent injury absence. Handled Duk well but there was a heart-in-mouth moment when he tangled with the Aberdeen striker on the edge of the box but John Beaton wasn’t moved. 6

Ben Davies: Looked composed alongside Goldson until he dived into a rash challenge on the halfway line that almost led to an Aberdeen goal. The Englishman’s afternoon ended prematurely when he went down injured before half-time as he hobbled off. 5

Ridvan Yilmaz: Will likely be afforded a chance to impress before the end of the season but he will need to show more desire than this afternoon. Improved as the first half progressed and flashed some dangerous balls into the box. Defended fairly well. 6

Nicolas Raskin: Arrowed a rasping left foot effort over the bar on 25 minutes. Raskin has his admirers but the Belgian midfielder needs to dominate proceedings more and a quiet afternoon ended when he was replaced by Glen Kamara. 6

John Lundstram: The Englishman’s form has improved in recent weeks after a disappointing season. Made a couple of great sliding tackles in the first half and would often drop deeper to pick up possession from the centre-backs. 6

Todd Cantwell: Rangers match winner with a stunning first-time volley from James Tavernier’s cross. Cantwell’s goal showcased his technical ability and he constantly shows for the ball, which should be applauded. Thumping early effort flew narrowly over the bar and went close again on 19 minutes. 8

Ianis Hagi: Afforded a chance to impress in only his second start under Beale and deployed in a false nine role. Showed his intelligence to find pockets of space against a packed Aberdeen defence but faded out the game and didn’t make a telling impact on the game. 6

Rabbi Matondo: Rangers most creative player. Made a bright start and showed a willingness to take on his defender. Faded as the first half progressed but showed impressive work rate to thwart a threatening Aberdeen counter-attack. Produced two sublime flicks to release Sakala in as many minutes before half-time and he put the ball on a plate for the Zambian after the restart. 7

Fashion Sakala: A classic Sakala display. Missed two gilt-edged chances before half-time and he should’ve done better. Looked to have missed an absolute sitter after the break but it appeared to come off Jonny Hayes last. Needs to do better in front of goal. 5

Substitutes

John Souttar: Replaced Davies and slotted in seamlessly at left centre-back. Used to ball well on his weaker side, looked to stride out from defence and he will hope to build on his partnership with Goldson. 6

Scott Arfield: Replaced Hagi but made little impact on proceedings. 4

Alfredo Morelos: Came on from Raskin for one of his last appearances at Ibrox. 4

Glen Kamara: Kept things ticking over in midfield after replacing Raskin on 66 minutes. 4
Scott Wright: A bright cameo from the bench, Wright showed a willingness to run beyond the Aberdeen defence and he went close with a powerful effort. 5
