Lawrence Shankland has been appointed as the new captain of Rangers.
James Tavernier wore the armband from 2018 until this summer, when he left the club after his contract expired.
Rangers have now announced that Shankland will wear the armband ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Shankland said: “It’s a huge honour; it was a dream to be here in the first place and as a boyhood supporter, to be the captain is a huge honour.
“The manager only told me about an hour ago. I got a wee exclusive before you all. The pressure will be there but the potential rewards massively outweigh that.”
Several players have been captain in pre-season, including Ross McCrorie, Neil, Shankland, Ben Godfrey and Dujon Sterling.

Jack Butland, who wore the armband last season at points, has already left Rangers this summer, while Rangers are looking to move on John Souttar, who has also fulfilled the role of captain at points in his career.
Meanwhile, Oliver Antman is on the verge of joining Anderlecht in a deal that will see the club make a small profit on the €4.5m they paid Go Ahead Eagles last summer.
Swansea and Leicester City both remain in talks with Rangers over a deal for Souttar, who is entering the final year of his deal. There is also interest from Luton, amongst others, in Ross McCausland, also in the final 12 months of his contract.

Rangers start their league season against Dundee United on Friday night in what will be Derek McInnes' competitive debut at the club.
Thelo Aasgaard and Cammy Devlin are both expected to be fit for the trip to Tannadice after sustaining knocks in Sunday's friendly against West Ham. Rangers then travel to Poland for the first leg of their Europa League third round.
