Youssef Chermiti is facing "a significant period of time" out of action after sustaining an ACL injury.
The striker left Ibrox wearing a moon boot and brace on his knee after coming off in the first half of Sunday's defeat against Hibs. He was stretchered from the park following a period of treatment at the Broomloan Road end.
Boss Derek McInnes confirmed post-match it was an impact injury and that the Portuguese would go for a scan to determine the full extent of the damage on Monday.
And Rangers have now announced that Chermiti has suffered an ACL injury as McInnes comes to terms with the loss of his most valuable centre-forward ahead of a crucial run of matches at home and abroad.

We revealed ahead of kick-off that Rangers had turned down a bid of £22million from Galatasaray for Chermiti. The Ibrox hierarchy have no interest in doing business at that price point as work continues to add to McInnes’ squad.
Chairman Andrew Cavenagh was asked about the bid and why Chermiti was in McInnes’ starting line-up at a meeting with shareholders and supporters in Glasgow on Monday morning. And he outlined the rationale that will be in play before any agreement is finalised at Ibrox.
“We won’t ever speak about individual deals and individual players but we will give you the concepts and it will probably get you to where you want to,” Cavenagh said. “When we think about selling a player, there are two things that have to come together.
“One is that we get the value that is appropriate for the player and the second is that there is time left in the window that we can reinvest those funds quickly and efficiently to be equal or better from a sporting perspective.
“If both of those things don’t exist, we won’t do a deal. We are not under pressure to sell. That is the mentality when you think about these deals.

“Selling a player for a bunch of money if you can’t put it back into the squad and replace him or make the squad better is useless. What we care about is winning, not the financial side of it.
“The sporting side has to come first for us. And to the comment about why would you play a player who had a transfer offer? Going from an offer to where a player goes out the door, there is a huge number of things that have to happen before you would pull a player out of a line-up, again impacting sporting.
“Just because someone lobs an unsolicited offer in on one sheet of paper, you don’t yank a player from a really important match. So I don’t regret that mentality at all. I am trying not to talk about the specifics of the question.”
Rangers expect to still make between three and five signings this summer. As reported this morning Club Brugge right-back Hugo Siquet is one player under consideration at right-back, as is Aston Villa's Kosta Nedeljkovic, with talks having taken place over a loan deal. Couhaib Driouech is undergoing a medical today ahead of a move in the region of £7million from PSV.
