Rangers defender John Souttar is set to clinch a move to Greek outfit Aris Thessaloniki ahead of the closure of their transfer window.
Boss Derek McInnes confirmed earlier this week that the stopper would be allowed to leave Ibrox after failing to earn a place in his first team plans this term.
The Rangers Review previously reported on interest from England – including from former boss Russell Martin – and Major League Soccer. We can reveal it is to Aris Thessaloniki where Souttar will head as he closes in on a deal.
Souttar was left out of the pre-season trip to Spain earlier this summer and has not made an appearance for McInnes’ side. The Ibrox boss has added Ben Godfrey and Olwethu Makhanya to his group, while Ross McCrorie and Dujon Sterling are also capable of operating at centre-back.
Rangers have also granted Clinton Nsiala permission to head for the exit door. It is understood, however, that the former AC Milan kid has rejected several offers to go elsewhere this season.
“I think he still can, but the likelihood is that John has been told his long-term future would be best served elsewhere,” McInnes said on Tuesday when asked if Souttar could work his way back into the squad. “He still has opportunities to move. There are a few windows still open in Europe and there are a few possibilities for him.

“I don't want to speculate too much, but there are one or two options he's keen on that seem to be gathering traction. For him, going somewhere and playing regular football might be the best option. But if nothing materialises, then of course we'll honour his contract and he'll come back into things."
