VAR is coming to Scottish football, what do you make of that?

Thanks to God! I think it’s a good thing for every league, especially after two or three years when they start to figure things out with VAR. I think it helps a lot so I’m very pleased about that.

How much excitement is there about the big matches on the horizon and two trophies to play for and also the league?

Yes, absolutely. It was a huge week. We are absolutely delighted with that week, probably the best week this season. We have two titles still to achieve but there is the league also so we are still thinking about that. We are very pleased about the Europa League and it’s a big thing to be in the Scottish Cup final also so we’re very happy.

The manager told us about the injuries to Kemar Roofe and Aaron Ramsey, how tough is it going to be up top?

Yes, there is a couple of injuries. That’s not good for us but in football, you affect that. We’ll stick together, I think we have a lot of good players. That’s very important we have a squad and whenever someone comes in they always help the team which is the most important thing.

From a personal level, how delighted are you to be back in the side and playing in the big games like Sunday?

Yes, I’m very happy because of that. I didn’t play a couple of games but I have always worked hard in training and waited for a moment like this to try to help the team. I knew that moment would come. I got a chance and I think I used that chance very well. I am very happy because I am back and I help the team to win those games.

How valuable has the last week been in allowing the players to recharge their batteries?

Yes, it was two huge games. It was very tough not only physically but also mentally. We got a couple of days off after Sunday. I think we are now rested physically and mentally. We are in a very good position because of the last week and I think it is fine now.

Connor Goldson says fatigue is mental and the body can take you to where you want to go, is that an ethos that flows through the rest of the team?

Yes, of course. When you are playing Thursday for 120 minutes, of course, you are tired more physically in that moment than mentally. The mentality is the thing that pushes you to play another 120 minutes and I think we showed our character. We showed it before but we showed it again and we know we are capable to do big things.

When you joined the club it was still going through the recovery stage, is this now the real Rangers you thought you were joining?

Yes, I spoke with a couple of people and look when I came here and look at the club now. When I joined I knew how tough a time Rangers had but also I knew how this club was before that. This club is now back in its old ways and I’m very proud because I’ve been a part of that. The semi-finals of the Europa League is a huge achievement, not only for the players but for the club and the fans because we are now back in Europe and everyone recognises us and knows we are capable and have a very good team.

In terms of your own mental toughness, did you always feel you’d get back to fitness and re-establish yourself in the team?

Yes, of course. It’s not the first time something like that has happened to me. That’s normal in every sport and in life, you have some ups and downs. The most important thing is that you train very well and you’re doing your best and your time will come. It’s not easy, it’s tough but that’s the thing if you want to be on this level.
