Every word Giovanni van Bronckhorst said to BT Sport tonight after the game.

How proud of the team are you tonight?

It was really good. We were well organised. We didn’t give many chances away, of course with their quality you always know they will create some chances, especially in the areas where it’s compact. They have players that can play really fast. I think Allan had some good saves. The first half was more about us making sure we didn’t concede goals but on the ball we were not as confident as we were in the second half. You could see we were creating some dangerous moments for us as well. It’s always disappointing if you lose a game so late but it’s a 1-0 defeat and the players played really well. We know what to do next week at home. That will give us the energy to give us everything.

How key was the tactical switch to move Joe Aribo through the middle?

I think we did well in the first half but you could see our two strikers and especially our midfielders were running a lot of meters when they switched the play and we made it a little bit easier for everyone to be more compact which worked really well.

Can you take confidence from keeping that strikeforce quiet?

We did. They have the quality up front and also with the subs they made but I think we had a good overall display. Next week we have to win so we have to make sure we are going to attack them at the right moments with more bodies. But as I have said, a 1-0 defeat away from home in Europe, we can overcome that. Ibrox will give us the energy.

Are Ramsey and Roofe still in the running to return for the second leg?

I can’t comment on that right now. Of course, we hope they are back but it’s a day by day decision. We will wait and see who is available next week.
