What were your thoughts on that match?

We defended really well. We wanted to get a good result and played with organisation throughout, not giving away many chances. Of course, the quality of Leipzig means they’re always likely to create something. But we made it really difficult for them to create any chances.

I think in the first half we defended well but weren’t very comfortable on the ball. In the second half we changed our set-up so we didn’t have to run a lot, especially our midfield players. On the ball we played with more confidence and created some dangerous moments. It’s always disappointing to lose a goal so late in the game. But, it’s a 1-0 defeat and we know what to do next week. There is a final in Seville that we can still qualify for, we have to give everything and I’m sure Ibrox will give us plenty of energy to overcome Leipzig. We want to reach the final so have to prepare well and give everything.

Have you told the players to remain confident?

Yes, it was my message. Of course, you feel the disappointment because of the late goal but we’re only halfway, we’ve shown before our character to get back into our rhythm. You don’t get many chances to play in a European final. So, we must go all and do everything to win.

Will you approach next week differently?

It’s a different game next week. The second game in a tie is always different because one team has to take risks based on the scoreline. I don’t think we’re going to play the same way as we did today, we must win by a margin of two and of course, one goal gets us back into the tie. We’re capable of doing so, with respect to the opponent’s quality. We’ve had many great European nights at home. The fans will definitely give us energy and my player should fight for the final.

How will you look to score against Leipzig next week?

Any player on the pitch can score, we are missing important strikers but we showed before that we can score all through the team. We are capable, we must give everything to create chances and when they arrive, we must take them!

What did you make of Leipzig’s celebrations?

When you score in a semi-final you’ll celebrate, that’s normal! Still, we know it’s not over and so do they. We have our home advantage next week and must make sure we’re well organised like today, but we can’t play the same way, we have to score.

What’s the mood in the dressing room?

I think the disappointment was in conceding so late, from a set-piece. That was the disappointment. However, we just need to analyse this game, move forward and as you said, we’re halfway, we have a chance next week to reach the final. We will give everything next week.
