Veteran journalist Jim White was blown away by Rangers defender Calvin Bassey’s performance at Celtic Park today, saying the 22-year-old was “everywhere”.

And the talkSPORT host reckons that along with Jota and Matt O’Riley at the Hoops, the big defender will be on the radar of big clubs down south.

Bassey, who was signed from Leicester City as a left-back, has become a mainstay for Giovanni van Bronckhorst as a central defender where his pace has been an incredible asset, particularly in Europe.

And White reckons he’s now one of the first names on the manager’s teamsheet.

Asked about players in Scotland English clubs might target, the broadcaster suggested Celtic’s duo before moving onto Bassey.

He told Go Radio: "The good thing about Bassey is he can play in a number of positions in that Rangers team and never looks out of place.

“You have to think he is one of the first names on the team sheet for Gio van Bronckhorst in Europe.

"But Bassey, for sure. I mean he was everywhere today. The last line of defence when they needed him."
