How are you after a difficult week?

It’s obviously a devastating time for the club and everyone that knew Jimmy and his family. Yesterday was really difficult, we all mourned Jimmy and people are still doing that now. I know he wouldn’t want the fuss, he’d want us to roll our sleeves up and get stuck into tomorrow. Even in training today that was the same, based on the standards he set. It’s about getting around the lads, having a good session and come tomorrow I know everyone will be ready to go from the first whistle. We’re going to do it for the club, the fans and Jimmy.

Can you sum up what Jimmy meant to everyone?

I loved him to bits. He was one of the first people I met after joining. I remember the first time I met him I asked him for the No.2 and he gave me stick for even asking. We created a special relationship over the years. The boys that have come in even this season have created special relationships with Jimmy so, he’s the heart and soul of this place but we have to focus on the game and try and put on the best performance like he’d want and reach a final where he’d want to be. That’s our aim.

What would it mean for you to take the club into a final?

Personally, it means a lot, it's been a journey. We’ve always tried to improve each year right through the club and we want to be doing well in these competitions. We’ve been knocking at the door the past few seasons and we’re obviously a step closer. It would be an unbelievable achievement if we were to get to the final.

Will there be healthy nerves tomorrow?

We’re playing at home in front of 50,000 fans, we have another top team in front of us. The boys will soak it up, the fans will be right behind us and that’s what we will need. All we can do is give it our all, leave it all on the pitch and have no regrets. If we do that we’ve got a fighting chance of a final.

What do you expect from Leipzig can the atmosphere affect them?

I hope so, you’ve seen against Braga we got the early goal which really kicked us on. We want to replicate that, get an early goal and get after them. We’ve seen really good teams come to Ibrox and struggle, so I hope that is the case tomorrow night and as a team, we’ve just got to do everything possible to get the result.

Can you tell us about Jimmy Bell and the captain’s armband?

That’s true with the captain's armband [he insisted if Rangers won that I wore the captain’s armband in the following game]. Unless it got too dirty and we’d come to an agreement that I needed a new one. There are so many small details that will be strange without Jimmy there, but he had something with every player. Before every game, he’d put my armband on. It’s going to be strange but I’m more determined to do everything in my power to make him proud.

Will you have neutral support being from a smaller league?

I don’t know, we just concentrate on our fans. If neutrals support us then great, we all have the same goal, we all want to play in Seville. As players, we want to make the club and fans proud.
