Can you sum up your emotions after that?

I don’t know what to say. My heart is beating 200mph. I’m very proud of this team. We knew Leipzig were a top team. The way we motivated each other – God Bless Jimmy [Bell] and the way he motivated us. This win is for him. We absolutely deserved it tonight.

It’s been an emotional week for everyone, but how did the boys control their emotions and put in a performance like that?

It’s been hard because everyone loved Jimmy. I loved him. He set the standards at Rangers. It was a very hard day when we heard he passed away. It was a big motivation for us.

How did you feel when Leipzig scored? You had put so much into the game at that point.

We knew we needed to score. At 2-0 we knew if they scored they were still in it. We knew we had to work very, very hard. In the first half we pressed all the way up the pitch and that’s not easy. When they scored we felt a little bit uncomfortable, but thanks to God, John Lundstram – our machine in the middle! – he scored a goal and we won.

Talk us through the moment when John scored? Being on the pitch must have been incredible.

I was looking at the time – how long that we needed to defend. To suffer again. I said to myself ‘I’ll do whatever it takes’ and we did that. I’m very happy and proud of the team.

What does it mean for you to be in the Europa League final now?

I never dreamt about being here, honestly. I don’t even know how to celebrate. It’s a historical result, for Rangers and for our fans. They’ll talk about it forever. We’re going to Seville to battle and try to win the Europa League. I want to thank the fans for their amazing support. Ibrox is just different – it was crazy!
