How does it feel to be at this stage?

It means a lot. I had a lot of success with Feyenoord in the cups and we have the chance now to win prizes for Rangers, I’m very honoured to be at this stage. To reach the final is a great feeling but you will have an even better feeling if you win the final. That’s all we have to do, we haven’t achieved anything yet. We deserve to be at this stage but I also know we need another good performance on the night to get the trophy. I believe and I’m confident in my players, they’re focused and in a good place physically and mentally. Not many managers in the history of this club have managed in a European final, only one has actually won it. It would be fantastic to win this for the club.

Are you the favourites?

I don’t know if there is such a thing as favourites in finals. They say it is 50/50 because it can go either way. Two historic teams are contesting a good final.

What’s the build up been like for the players?

The Leipzig game at home was one of the best nights I’ve ever experienced. I think it is very important to keep going, that’s what we’ve done against Dundee United and Ross County. We need the same intensity and desire against Frankfurt. Saturday is different because we will rotate the squad.

Is Kemar Roofe training individually?

He is not training with the team, we are trying to get him on the pitch for the weekend. I admire his desire to be ready for the game, he is pushing hard but it is one of those injuries where it is a close call.

What do you make of Frankfurt?

They are strong, physically good and quick in transition. We also saw this against Dortmund and Leipzig. Frankfurt have had great results which will have given them confidence. They have a similar system to previous opponents but different players. We are watching their games and will make a plan to be victorious.

Why are you so successful in cup competitions?

I think in the knock-out stages we have done really well over two games, I always say to my players you have to give yourself a good chance to be in the tie for the second leg. Especially without the away goals, you have every chance. You can see the different approaches away and at home but that has brought us to the final. My players have been tactically aware and I’ve been really pleased with their performances. I want my team to enjoy this game and play to their strengths.

Does your tactical variation make you harder to play against?

We have needed that in Europe because you play against opponents who also change their approach. Sometimes we have to adjust and be flexible. The game against Dortmund at home is a good example, when we had to change our system three times and that brought us the win. We will prepare them well for Frankfurt and play as we always do with the flexibility to change if necessary and react to Frankfurt.

How similar is this run to your time as Feyenoord manager?

My championship there in 2017, the first after 18 years, you always have a goal in mind, it starts with a dream. The dream this year was to win the Europa League and that is where we have put all our energy. After we beat Sparta Prague 2-0 I don’t think many people gave us the chance to reach the final, it shows that with the right mentality and spirit you can overcome opponents. We have one more game to play and if we win that we are the champions, a dream for us all.

Will injured players travel to Spain?

Of course, we have players who cannot play, we are all together in the building. Alfredo Morelos is just back from Colombia to support everyone. They have an important influence and although only 11 players are on the pitch, we are all together. We will have everyone with us to experience this beautiful occasion as a group.

The fans message has been make us dream, have you had the opportunity to dream?

I have not had many quiet moments in recent months! Of course, it is an amazing build up to the final and you have to dream of something to achieve it. We are well on our way but you can only win this cup if you win the final, that’s all that matters at the moment.
