PAOK boss Razvan Lucescu has opened up on the confusion surrounding the future of his striker Antonio Colak and the status of Rangers' bid for the player.

The Rangers Review reported earlier that the Ibrox side had submitted a £1.8m offer that met the Greek clubs asking price and agreed personal terms with the striker who is keen to move to Scotland.

Power brokers were left baffled as PAOK seemed uneasy about finalising the deal despite all the key elements being in place.

It led to reports that a second bid has been rejected, with a third required - claims that Rangers quickly dismissed.

The impasse was cleared up by Lucescu following his side's 4-0 friendly win over Dutch team Go Ahead Eagles as he explained a failure to secure other deals mean letting Colak depart would leave him with only one striker.

He said: "I can tell you I know about an offer for Antonio from a good club that for him could be important. At the same time if Antonio leaves in the next few days it's a problem as it leaves us with one striker.

"The official games are coming soon and it's not easy to bring in new players. You need time. Time for negotiations, money, players that are available and not, players that have chemistry with us. So these are the two aspects and they are not so easy to be solved. From Antonio and from us."
