JON McLAUGHLIN has lauded Rangers' 'out of this world' record in Europe after his side sealed their return to the Champions League group stages.

Antonio Colak's second half strike was enough for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men to see off PSV 3-2 on aggregate and secure their place in tonight's draw.

McLaughlin made a huge stop late on in the game as the Dutch side went through one-on-one, but the Gers stopper was keen to underline the collective effort from his side in Holland.

"It was an epic performance. It was exactly what we had to execute," the 34-year-old told BT Sport. "You can see how difficult the task is to come away to a side like PSV in Europe, a massive club with experience. They wanted it as much as we did.

"After a 2-2 draw, coming away from home, you have a mountain to climb. You have to be perfect if you want to get something out of it, get a clean sheet and find a goal from somewhere."

The result continues Rangers' remarkable European journey under van Bronckhorst, with the Dutchman overseeing victories in each of his last six two-legged knockout ties stretching back to last season.

And McLaughlin believes his side stood up to the challenge when questions were asked of them once again.

"We were prepared to go all the way if it needed extra-time and penalties," he added. "But the boys have delivered again.

"The European performances have been out of this world. The boss said to everyone how proud he is, and for myself to be a part of that watching the team in front of me execute in that fashion is amazing."
