GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST is currently the best Dutch boss in the world because he's a mix of Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti and could one day manage former club Barcelona, according to Netherland's top football pundit.

The Rangers boss masterminded Champions League group stage qualification during the week with a deserved win at PSV Eindhoven.

And last season he took Rangers all the way to the Europa League Final before they fell at the final hurdle in an agonising penalty shootout loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Now top Dutch pundit Valentijn Driessen reckons it's about time van Bronckhorst was given the respect and recognition he deserves from his own countrymen.

He said: "As a trainer, he is reminiscent of Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti.

"Yet there is a persistent misunderstanding here that is based on nothing that says van Bronckhorst is supposedly a softie.

"Yes, he gets along great with players and top players in particular, but doesn't shy away from tough decisions. For example, at Feyenoord, he went into battle with their icon Dirk Kuyt and put him on the bench.

"Before the crucial match with PSV, he removed his star player Alfredo Morelos from the selection because of unprofessional behaviour.

"Gio doesn't lose his temper often, but he saves it for when it really matters, as he showed about the antics of the PSV fans before the game against Rangers.

"As a player, he went from Rangers to Arsenal to Barcelona. And after his performance as a manager in Glasgow, he might just take the same route as a manager.

"He is underestimated here, yet he outwitted Ruud van Nistelrooy and his assistant Fred Rutten in Eindhoven this week.

"Gio is the standard-bearer of all Dutch managers abroad."
