Everything the former Rangers player said at today’s press conference.

What are your favourite Ibrox memories?

Probably the Leipzig game, that got us through to the final so it was very emotional, especially with Jimmy Bell not being able to experience it.

Have you told your teammates just how special this place can be on a European night?

Yeah, of course. The boys know already of Celtic and Rangers, they have an idea of what the atmosphere will be like so I don’t really have to say much.

Will family and friends be here tomorrow?

Yeah, I’ll have some family here. I know a lot of people here and it will be nice to see them after the game because at the end of the day I’ve come here to do a job and I’ve got to stay focused and not focus on all the distractions. I’ll say hello to everyone but save the conversations for after the game and focus on the match.

What has it been like playing for Ajax?

It’s exciting. I’ve always wanted to learn and I’m proper excited to be here. I’m just trying to take my game to the next level, trusting in the coaching staff. Listening to them and making sure I can deliver on the pitch.

What’s the biggest difference between playing in Scotland and Holland?

The biggest difference is that the Eredivisie has more teams and the players we play against are a step above the Scottish League with all due respect. You don’t have a second to switch off. You need to stay focused, communicate more and try to lead the backline. We’ve got experienced players around which makes your life easier.

Calvin, what’s the present?

Rangers Review:

Tomorrow night [he will reveal all] Calvin have you had contact with old teammates?

Of course, we’re not just friends because of football! We’re friends because they’re good guys, I get along with them and we have a lot in common. Of course, we speak. Not about football much because we have other things to talk about. I haven’t spoken to them leading up to this game but that’s normal.

What have you told your teammates about the stadium?

Ibrox is similar to the Amsterdam Arena, it is loud and jumpy and people will see it in this game and they can compare it. It is always a nice atmosphere here and I’m looking forward to it. The Rangers fans will be up for this game, as they are for every game. They will be wanting the team to win but we have to remain composed and remember what we have to do. We are here to do a job and we have to make sure we deliver.

Can you enjoy the occasion?

I don’t think I can just enjoy being back here, as I have to focus on the game. There will be media attention about me coming back but I have to do all I can for Ajax to get the result.

You’ve got Gio a present, can you tell us what it is?

He will tell you! It is just a nice present. He gave me an opportunity when he came. He taught me a lot and helped me get confidence. He has been very important to my career.

What is it like being back?

It’s a nice feeling being back in Glasgow. It’s nice to see familiar faces but it’s a weird feeling as well. Tomorrow night I will just lock in and get focused on the game. Obviously, I’m an Ajax player now and for me, it’s important for us to get the win. That’s what I’m focused on.

How do you sum up recent performances?

There are always going to be things that happen like injuries or form. But for us, we need to focus every day and make sure we are taking in what the trainer is telling us and doing the best we can. That’s what we are doing. There is always going to be adversity or changes in a season. It’s just about getting back to where you were. We are trying to rebuild.

How important is a win?

Of course, it’s important. You want to win every game as a player. So it’s important to win tonight and secure a place in the Europa League. Of course, it’s important.
