Everything the defender said to Sky Sports ahead of tonight's tie with Aberdeen.

How is your fitness?

Good. I came on on Thursday and played a part which was good. I had an injury towards the back end of the break and played a couple of games with a groin injury. I was trying to get through to the break but there was one game too many in the end. We’ve used the break well to get back and be in contention going forwards.

How challenging has it been to show the best version of yourself?

Yeah, it has been difficult. Pre-season’s importance can be overlooked in how important it is for footballers over the course of a season. It gives you that base of fitness and at times that has probably hampered me a bit. Looking forward now I want to do a good bit of training, get in the team and show some real form because I think I’ve shown the odd bits but I don’t think the fans have seen consistently what I can do yet.
