Tom Lawrence has thanked Rangers fans for their messages of support after undergoing surgery to finally rid himself of the injuries that have ruined his dream move to Glasgow.

The winger had a brilliant start to life at Ibrox after arriving in the summer from Derby on a Bosman deal.

But he was soon laid low by injury after appearing in a routine 4-0 win over Ross County back in August.

The Welsh international was expected back after the World Cup break but despite training on the grass, further issues emerged.

And Lawrence underwent surgery to ensure he will be ready for next season.

He said: "Appreciate all the messages over the past week off everyone, not how I wanted my first season to go at Rangers with injuries.

"After trying everything over the past five months in and out of the gym the only solution was to have surgery and get ready to play again next season.

"Surgery went well and I’m looking forward to getting back on the pitch in the near future."

The player is expected back towards the end of the pre-season by manager Michael Beale.
