Everything Michael Beale said to the BBC after the 5-2 win over St Mirren.

What did you make of the game today?

It was a mixed bag of a performance if I'm honest. Obviously, getting five goals and some good ones which I will comment on but the two goals against are a concern because they could have been stopped. Nothing against O'Hara's strikes because they were excellent, especially the first one but we were sloppy in both moments and we need to be better than that.

There was good play in the game but you'd probably want the goals earlier?

We nearly had the perfect start. We started the game quite brightly and we get a penalty after two or three minutes. It's what you want against stubborn defence but we miss it. The first goal in the game was a really good goal, it was brilliantly worked and it's nice to see Todd get beyond the striker. After that, we looked like we thought the game would take care of itself and although there were passages of good play, we lacked decisiveness in the final third and I thought we were looking for the half-time whistle. We stopped pressing and were a bit sloppy in turnovers. We get caught on the goal where we have a four vs three and we make a bad decision. The ball is bouncing around our box and we are not getting up to it. There were some harsh words at half-time. We come out and get a goal straight away but we concede off a set play and I have to make changes off the bench. I'm delighted with the guys who came off the bench and made an impact. I think all the guys who came on did well. If you are in the stadium you can understand why we scored so many goals but it was a mixed bag today.

Cantwell is impressing! Who impressed you most?

We moved him a little bit today. We played around with him and Malik. We moved Malik back into midfield to run out of there and he had moments in the game before he went off but Todd was a constant threat. His running numbers are huge so we know as the game goes on he's still moving as others are tired and he gets a goal and assist. I want more. We had a bit of a shake-up at halftime about his reaction before we conceded the goal. That's just me making demands of him. I thought John Lundstram played well. He's had a tough few weeks John and I thought he played well. John Souttar as well. Those players were interesting because we scored five goals and the weren't on the scoresheet but when I look at the game they were essential today.

There were more than 60 passes in the run up to the fifth goal - is that what you are looking for?

When you look at the goal Todd goes on a fantastic run and Scotty makes the run. It's something we are looking at when facing five at the back - can we get runners from midfield? That typifies Scott's career. We seemed to have the ball for an age. It's a nice goal and it's not something that happens often so well played to the boys for that. I also thought the first goal was really good today.

What does Ross Wilson's departure add to your role in terms of workload?

Firstly, I think I'm very fortunate in that I'm not just a manager that's been here for six months as I've been here before as first team coach so my relationship with the board is very open. Usually, the technical director is the buffer between the manager and the board  and Ross was that and someone I'd see day in, day out in terms of everything at the club. He's a good friend, not just a colleague that I've worked with, that's how our relationship was built. I do feel with this board I have an open line to all of them and I know them personally very well. In the short term, everything will be fine, the plans for next season are very much in place. It's now just about executing deals. I'm off speaking to players and meeting people and controlling that. I've got a really good staff around me to help me. We lost a really good member of staff this week and we wish him well because this was an opportunity he wanted and was right for him. But as a football club it's onwards as normal. When we get to the summer, if the board decide to reappoint in the role, no problem I will work with that. In the interim, I'm absolutely fine continuing as I am because I'm very hands on with the staff as a manager and I have relationships that have gone on for years at this club and I haven't just come in the door.

Ross was that, in terms of day in, day out at the club.
