Robbie Fraser spoke to the media after penning a new contract ahead of the Glasgow Cup final against Celtic.

Are you pleased to get the new deal signed?

Yeah, it’s really nice. It’s nice to get some recognition for my hard work and it’s good to have some faith in me. It’s time to kick on and work even harder than now - so it’s nice.

What is your Rangers story? How long have you been here and what have you experienced?

I’ve been at the club for 13 years. It’s been a long time, but I’ve loved it since coming here at 7 years old. I’ve made a few bench appearances with the first team and came on in a friendly. I’m wanting to go one further and get that competitive debut soon.

What did it mean for you to get that appearance under the manager? (Fraser featured in the 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in December)

It was great. It was a bit of faith shown and he was obviously trying to assess the squad but he showed faith in me straight away. I got about ten minutes but it was a really good experience to play at Ibrox in front of the fans.

Michael Beale’s background is in youth development, does that give you confidence that he will look at the youth age groups in the future?

Absolutely. You can see that he’s not scared to give young players an opportunity, whether that’s in training or on the bench. There’s been a few around there and that gives an added motivation to work even harder.

Beale has said that training with first-team is more important than games as it’s a chance to impress - is that how you’ve found it?

As soon as you're under his eye, you need to show what you can do and work to the best you can while showing a good attitude.

How have you adapted to first-team training?

There’s obviously a huge difference between the B-team and the first team - it’s incredible. The standard is so high and the intensity is so high. You need to be on your game every single moment because if you don’t then you might get a telling off.

Can you detail the biggest differences in training between the B-team and first team?

It’s the level of the drills. A lot of the drills are similar to what we do but the standard is just so high. There’s loads of short, sharp stuff and every pass is crisp - it rarely goes out of play.

You were on the bench against Ajax in the Champions League earlier this season, does that give you a taste for more?

It was a great experience. First time on the bench in the Champions League and I still have the top at home. When you get a little sniff like that, it makes you want it even more and work even harder.

Is pushing Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz next season the motivation after signing your new deal?

That’s the motivation. To get more security and to kick on to try and push them. I look at their games and I look at mine to see what I can do better.

There’s been a lot of talk around the merits of the B-team this season, have you found the experience of playing in the Lowland League beneficial?

Yeah, it’s been a huge benefit. Coming in every day, there’s a high level of players around the B-team and it’s a demanding league as shown in the league table. The whole squad has training with the first team at some point and it shows that you get opportunities if you’re ready. When you’re in the building and under his (Beale) eye then you can get opportunities.
