Everything Ianis Hagi said to the media after the match with Olympiacos.

What did you make of the game? And was another good 90 minutes in terms of the team before the season ahead?

Yeah, another 90 minutes. I think the most important thing is that we were able to to play through fatigue. It's been tough for the last three weeks. Obviously, it has to be like that and I think the most important thing is that people come out of these games without injuries and we just build up because the season is just around the corner. And you have to be ready 100 per cent.

Is there a sense it’s going to take a bit of time for the players to come together and gel properly?

Look, through fatigue, it is hard to judge anyone. So tactically, technically I think the most important thing and the focus of everyone was to get fit, get fit as soon as possible. Go through these games without injuries and for the first day of the new season we're ready in all aspects, so I think that's the main focus.

And you're talking about fatigue a lot and the manager was talking about pushing the players. Has this been one of the hardest pre-seasons of your career?

To be fair, yeah, personally I think it's been the hardest preseason that I ever had. But I think it's a good thing, you know, you grind for 3-4 weeks. You push yourself to the limit. Obviously, you have to also understand your body and accept that sometimes you can't go over the line so you don't get injured. But I think everybody has done a good job until now. And look, we have another 10 days until the season starts. So, I think we're in a good place mentally. Because it's not only physically in pre-season and it's also mentally, so I think we're in a good place, but we know when the season starts, it comes to down to results and winning. And I think everybody since day one, especially the new players that came in, understand that and the old guys already here for a few years too. So we know what to expect.

You’ve talked about avoiding injuries. Does that explain your angry reaction to the bad tackle you received in the second half?

It has nothing to do with my injury. It was just a poor tackle that was unnecessary. I told the guy it's a friendly game and it's unnecessary. You don't have to do that. In terms of injuries, I think we're in a good place considering other pre-seasons. So yeah, individually I've trained in every session, I ran in all sessions so I couldn't be happier with myself. Right now I'm confident. It's been a year and a half. So it's been quite a long time since my injury. So I don't really look back.

Has pre-season been big for you just in terms of getting your physical shape back?

Yeah, no, 100 per cent. Look, last season coming, mid-season, you know everybody is at a certain level physically and I'm basically starting at zero. It's so hard to catch up physically throughout the season, because there are not too many running sessions. We play a lot of games, so there wasn't really time for me to catch up with the guys. So, I had to accept that sometimes I can't play, but obviously, this is a different story right now. I started everything with everyone I had just 10 days off. I was with the national team, so I came in full focus, physically, mentally, everything. I'm in a really good spot so I can't complain.

Given the number of new attackers that have come in, how would you describe the challenge of trying to become a first pick?

There's no difference since the age of seven, I fight with everyone. Whoever is in front of me, that doesn't really matter. So it's nothing new.

You’ve been playing a bit deeper. Is that a role you enjoy?

Yeah, a lot. I think when I came into Rangers, I could have played just in the top three positions. I've added this into my game since two seasons ago, obviously afterwards the injury came so I couldn't actually play in that position too much. But my mind was always there. I knew I could play there. I had a few questions in my mind that I answered this pre-season and I'm happy about that. So I have no problem in playing deeper. I like it. I'm more on the ball. I have three runners in front of me, so yeah, I'm happy.

You’re 10 days from the first competitive game. Where do you think the squad is in terms of being ready for that first match?

(Laughing) Well, probably just 10 days away from being at full fitness.
