Philippe Clement has not ruled out the possibility of Danilo playing for Rangers again this season.

The Brazilian striker suffered a knee injury during a 1-0 win over Hearts in early December that required surgery. Danilo had already suffered a serious knock earlier in the campaign after fracturing his cheekbone during a clash of heads with Liam Gordon.

His latest spell on the sidelines has left Clement with a gap at the top end of the pitch. Kemar Roofe also didn’t travel to La Manga for the club’s warm-weather training camp.

“So it’s clear they won’t be available for the next couple of weeks, otherwise they would be here," Clement said speaking after his side's 1-0 friendly defeat against Hertha Berlin.

[Will they play again this season?] "The season has a long way to go, ask me if they will play again this season in two or three months, that’s a little bit early. Ryan Jack has started to train again but he has a history with these injuries so we have to build it back up.

“Borna Barisic, Jack and Tom Lawrence all missed out today. They did separate training but they are also coming back from injury.

“So we’re not yet with the full squad ready for the moment. We know that but we’re going to work hard the next few weeks to get more and more players available.

Rangers lost 1-0 against Hertha Berlin on Saturday. The German outfit were also training at La Manga as they step up preparations for their Bundesliga 2 campaign to resume.

“We saw good things on a pitch that was not the best. We tried to play with a good tempo on a pitch that also wasn’t the biggest, to create space against a team that didn’t want the ball and waited for transitions. So those are the circumstances that make it more difficult to score the goal,” Clement continued.

“I see the good intentions with a lot of players and I saw the effort, which is what we need for the moment. They will have the profit of that in the next couple of weeks because the players are going to go really deep this week and in the week to come. But it will give them extra powers for the next couple of months.”
