Jim Goodwin's Dundee United might be the next team to come up against Rangers, but that hasn't stopped him from telling them how to get the best out of Bojan Miovski.

United make the trip from the City of Discovery to play at Ibrox on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways after two disappointing results.

They will likely be facing a Rangers attack led by Miovski, who got his first Premiership goal for the club last time out at Falkirk. Their boss, Goodwin was the man who brought the North Macedonian to Scotland during his spell in charge at Aberdeen.

That was the most prolific spell as he scored 18 and 26 goals during his two seasons at Pittodrie. Goodwin was sacked midway through the first but had got Miovski firing early on.

Addressing his former player's struggles at Girona, the Irishman said: “You see Hojlund who was at Manchester United, he’d scored three goals in 30-odd games but he’s got three in five for Napoli now.

“So it’s not always the centre-forward’s problem, sometimes you need to look further and discuss the chances being created.

“Bojan thrives on balls coming into the box and makes clever runs in behind, so you have to get the right service for him.

“His movement in the box is brilliant, we saw that with Aberdeen where he scored a goal every two games which is a good return for any striker.”

Goodwin added: “I’m not surprised to see Bojan back because I was surprised one of the bigger teams here didn’t take him the first time around.

“Russell Martin was a big admirer of him when he was at Southampton so it wasn’t unexpected when he moved to Rangers.

“Southampton contacted Aberdeen so it was no surprise he came back in to get a deal done with Bojan.

“Everyone knows his qualities, he’s a good, good player and the Premiership suits him.”
