Steven Smith will take charge of Rangers' home Premiership clash with Dundee United tomorrow, but what happens next?
As revealed by Rangers Review, Kevin Muscat has agreed a deal to become the next permanent boss of the Ibrox club but is not likely to arrive until late November as his Shanghai Port title charge runs on.
Former Rangers winger, and last season's interim coach under Barry Ferguson, Neil McCann is expected to be the Australian's assistant and has been mooted as a potential temporary boss until the main man's arrival.
Smith has been taking training this week and will definitely be in charge at Ibrox tomorrow What happends beyond that is still to be confirmed, with a trip to Norway to take on Brann in the Europa League coming next on Thursday.
European competitions require managers to have their UEFA Proce Licence and some reports have suggested the under-19s coach can not continue in the dugout for that one because he doesn't have that qualification.

However, there is a rule in place which allowed club legend Steven Davis to boss a game against Aris Limassol in the same competition two years ago.
That rule being special dispensation for a non-permanent manager (in charge for less than 12 weeks) to take charge of a European game even if he doesn't have the Pro Licence.
That means Smith could, in theory, remain in place for a second game if that is the route club chiefs decide to go down.
Rangers then host Kilmarnock and travel to Edinburgh to face Hibs before a huge Premier Sports Cup semi-final with Celtic at Hampden.
