Allan McGregor: Slightly wobbly start from last season’s POTY, almost gifted a goal with a slack pass to John Lundstram allowing Aubameyang in but the Gabon international blazed over. Was back to his best to deny a Flo Balogun effort and saved well from Smith Rowe. He produced top saves in the second half from a long range Apartey drive, Smith Rowe and Bellerin from the edge of the area. 7

James Tavernier: His delivery for the goal was sublime, a corner kick whipped into the danger zone allowing Balogun to open the scoring. Caught out for the goal however, he tried to control a ball which caught up in the wind only for Nuno Tavares to nip in and slot past McGregor. An interesting sight at the start of the second half as he moved into an advanced position in front of Nathan Patterson, one wonders if we may see that more often this season. Another pin-point delivery from a free kick onto the head of Lundstram but he couldn’t direct it goalwards. 6

Calvin Bassey: Impressive showing, always willing to get forward and defensively sound. His marauding run caused Pablo Mari to dive in wildly resulting in a caution. There was slight concern over the youngster initially but fortunately he ran off the knock. He also produced a wonderful goal line clearance from Aubameyang as well as a number of tidy little touches. Lovely step over to make an angle for a shot at goal on 60 mins but he blazed into Row Z, more shooting practice required big man! The youngster looked slightly leggy as the match wore on but can be happy with his day’s work. 7

Connor Goldson: Slightly off it positionally in the first half, Smith Rowe eased past him at one point like he wasn’t there. Distribution was sound and like Lundstram, he has gears to go through before flag day. 5

Leon Balogun: Playing to the left of Goldson, fantastic glancing header to nod Rangers ahead from Tavernier corner on 14 mins, his first goal for the club. Looked as composed as ever, defensively solid in the main despite a slack ball on 32 mins, luckily he was helped out by Kamara. 6

John Lundstram: Full of industry and endeavour, breaking up a number of Arsenal moves in the first half. The 2,000 crowd enjoyed a couple of robust interactions with Kieran Tierney, that endeared him to the Ibrox faithful. May have done better with a header from close range from a Tavernier free kick in the second half. Still bit away from full match sharpness. 6

Steven Davis: Industrious as ever, good interception from an Arsenal cut back in the first half and combined well with Lundstram to set up an attack with Tavernier. He was chasing shadows for much of the opening period. 6

Glen Kamara: Neat and tidy as ever but couldn’t dictate the game as much as he often does and like Davis was often trying to stem the flow. May take him a little while to recharge the batteries fully given his Euros involvement and all that comes with that. 6

Iannis Hagi: Caught in possession on seven minutes and found it difficult to impose himself in the game. Showed great invention to go for a Patrik Schick style lob from the half way line in the second half but came to nothing. 6

Jermain Defoe: Sad to see the veteran striker hobble off after 34 minutes with a suspected hamstring injury. Before then he found it difficult to get into the game, fed off scraps in the main although he linked up well with a lovely deft touch to Roofe to release him down the left channel in the first half. Great ovation as he left the field and nice touch from Arsenal players to wish him well as he made his way towards the tunnel. 4

Kemar Roofe: Battled hard as ever, lovely cutback to Bassey in the penalty box in the first half but couldn’t get into the game as much as he would’ve liked. 6

Subs

Scott Wright: On for the injured Jermain Defoe, caught Apartey early on, bursting a gut to make an impression, didn’t offer much in an attacking sense but of full of industry as expected and played in a more central position in the second half. Dived in on Bellerin who rolled it past him before firing shot at goal which McGregor tipped away. 6

Nathan Patterson: Great interception on the hour mark to set up an attack which ended in Calvin Bassey blasting over the bar. Put Edmondson in a spot of bother with a defensive pass but luckily never came to anything. Had an attempt on goal from range on 78 mins, shows his confidence but a yard or two wide of the post. 6

Jack Simpson: Good solid challenge early on and a terrific sliding challenge to deny Nketiah. Could’ve got closer to the Arsenal man though before he fired in the equaliser for 2-2. Very composed on the ball. Promising. 6

Glenn Middleton: Slotted in at left back in place of Bassey. Wonderful delivery for Itten’s goal on 75 mins. Combination play with the big Swiss targetman on 79 mins was a joy to behold, and resulted in a low cross ball to Kelly but he missed a sitter. Nketiah picked his pocket after initially cutting out a ball to Willock before rifling into the back of the net on 83 mins. His deliveries are exquisite, not sure he’s a left back though. 6

George Edmondson: Took over from Goldson, nice move and little one two with Patterson down the right flank as he tried to force the issue. 5

Scott Arfied: Great ball forward releasing Itten on 76 mins and lofted pass to Patterson moments later before being fouled, like many he was often scurrying around trying to contain Arsenal. 5

Jordan Jones: Replaced Hagi on the left hand side, good positive run on 70 mins before being brought down, didn’t offer much else. 5

Cedric Itten: Replaced Roofe up front. Mark Hateley-esque header to score the 2nd goal on 75 mins from Middleton’s corner, it had power, precision and accuracy. Could’ve maybe done better when played through on goal by Arfield a minute later but failed to capitalise, in the main he held the ball up well and nice words from the manager afterwards. Expect him to play a bigger part this season. 7

Jake Hastie: Came on in the right of the front three, never produced anything of real note. As much as we would all love the lad to make it at Ibrox, I fear it may be beyond him. 4

Stephen Kelly: Number of interceptions and always looking up and get the ball forward. Just HAS to score when ball comes across from Middleton ball on 80 mins, fired straight at the keeper. 5
