RANGERS' pursuit of Hereenveen midfielder Joey Veerman has hit a sizeable snag after the 22-year-old revealed he hopes to seal a move to Feyenoord this summer.

Scouts from Ibrox have reportedly been tracking the Dutch midifielder for some time now and face stiff competition for his signature with Serie A outfit Verona and the Eredivisie side interested.

Heerenveen have alrready rejected a £5million bid from Verona for Veerman and are believed to value him at around £8million.

Such a move would represent a significant outlay for Rangers and any deal could hinge on the team's progression in the Champions League qualifiers - or the future of Finland internationalist Glen Kamara, who is rumoured to be attracting admiring glances from the English Premier League.

However, new Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is understood to be a fan of Veerman - with the midfielder admitting that a move could be too good to turn down.

Rangers Review:

He told ESPN: “My management have received some kind of offer [from Feyenoord].

“I think they have asked Heerenveen how much they want for me.

“So in the end I hear that they have not made an official offer with Heerenveen, but that they really want me.

“Yes, I would be a very happy man if I can go there.

“It could be a good step for me. I certainly think so."
