PARTICK THISTLE have secured the signing of Jake Hastie on loan from Rangers, with the deal initially running until January.

The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Motherwell, will join up with the squad immediately and could be available for this weekend's visit to Gayfield.

Hastie has struggled for game time since moving to Ibrox two years ago and previously had a spell with Rotherham in England's League One.

Jags boss Ian McCall was thrilled to get the deal over the line and add another wide player to his squad.

"Firstly, Rangers have been fantastic with us in allowing us to take Jake on loan," he told the Partick Thistle website. "My job now is to give him the confidence to go out and show everyone the player he can be, the one who lit up the Scottish Premiership and scored goals at that level.

"Jake gives us another option of serious pace in the team from middle to front, along with Scott Tiffoney. I simply want Jake to go out and enjoy playing football with Partick Thistle – with one caveat, that he’ll need to work hard to get into this team.”

Hastie is Thistle's ninth addition this summer and the second player to join on loan from Rangers after defender Lewis Mayo returned to Firhill on a temporary deal. Further defensive recruits have been added in Kevin Holt and Steven Bell, while Hearts goalkeeper Harry Stone has also joined on a season-long loan.

Kyle Turner was snapped on a free transfer to supplement the wide areas, as was former Ayr United midfielder Cammy Smith, and Scott Tiffoney was recruited from Livingston with Thistle Weir Youth Academy graduate James Penrice moving in the opposite direction.

Ross MacIver, the Motherwell centre-forward who spent the second half of last season on loan in Maryhill, has also signed a permanent deal with the club.
