Nathan Patterson has been forced to pull out of the Scotland squad ahead of their match with Austria this week.

The Rangers defender played an influential role as Steve Clarke's side defeated Moldova in World Cup qualifying at the weekend.

But how long will he be out for? Here is everything we know.

What have Scotland said about Nathan Patterson?

Scotland manager Steve Clarke has confirmed that Patterson, Kenny McLean and Ryan Fraser will miss Scotland’s World Cup qualifier with Austria.

Fraser was hurt in training, while Patterson and McLean suffered injuries against Moldova and Hibs defender Paul McGinn has been drafted in.

Clarke said: “Nathan Patterson and Kenny McLean have injuries from the game and Ryan Fraser has picked up a knock in training.

“I had seven or eight doubts after the game on Saturday so losing three is not the worst outcome.

“It’s very difficult to call players in because of all the Covid stipulations so we’re grateful to Paul for making himself available. He’s a good addition.”

How long will Nathan Patterson be out for?

It is currently unknown how long Patterson will be out for, but Rangers have a match this weekend against St Johnstone.

The match will take place at McDiarmid Park with a 12pm kick-off.

Will James Tavernier be back for St Johnstone?

The Ibrox skipper has been missing since Rangers' match with Ross County last month following a Covid outbreak in camp.

Tavernier will return to full training this week and he is expected to be back for the Saints test.
