SNP MP Gavin Newlands has slaughtered Steve Clarke's decision to drop Zander Clark from the Scotland squad.

And the Paisley and Renfrewshire North politician is adamant that Clark is a better keeper than those selected ahead of him.

Craig Gordon is the number one but Jon McLaughlin of Rangers and Liam Kelly of Motherwell are now the backup choices, something Newlands reckons is farcical.

The St Johnstone diehard is adamant his team's keeper is in better form than either and should have been selected.

He wrote on Twitter: "Utterly farcical decision.

"Not only is Zander a better keeper than both Kelly and McLaughlin, he's playing regularly and in top form which you can't say about Liam and Jon.

"How are clubs like St Johnstone supposed to keep our best players if they must move to get Scotland recognition?"
