Davie Provan may have been a Celtic hero, but that hasn't stopped him praising Ianis Hagi to the hilt for his astonishing solo goal against Germany on Friday night.
The Rangers midfielder slalomed past challenges before dispatching an unstoppable shot into the corner of the net to put Romania 1-0 up in the Group J World Cup qualifier.
Sadly for the 22-year-old, the German's bounced back with goals from Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller to win 2-1.
Put Provan was mightily impressed with Hagi's contribution and even compared the Ibrox kid to his legendary father.
He said on Sky Sports in reaction to the goal: “Look at that!
"Young Hagi does what his dad used to do.
“He’s stunned the Germans. Romania counter-attack and stun Germany in the city of Hamburg.”
“I tell you what, he’s got so much to do because Germany get back, they try to crowd him out, they’re aware he’s got a great left foot."
