GLASGOW City and Rangers couldn't be separated after a hard fought game at Petershill Park ended 1-1. Both the goals came from headers in the second half, with Chantelle Swaby putting Rangers ahead after 55 minutes and Niamh Farrelly equalising seven minutes later.

Lizzie Arnot, whose corner led to the goal from Jamaican central defender Swaby, thought she had put Rangers ahead for a second time midway through the half, but the forward was offside when she bundled the ball home from close range.

With several of his Scotland squad players in action ahead of Friday's World Cup qualifier against Hungary at Hampden, national head coach Pedro Martinez Losa was among the spectators, as was former City head coach Scott Booth.

A dull first half was notable mainly for an important early save by Lee Alexander from Chelsea Cornet and an injury to City captain Jo Love which saw her replaced by Mairead Fulton after only 14 minutes. Spartans, who had been hammered 9-0 by City a fortnight earlier, came very close to beating Celtic at the Penny Cars Stadium. Teenage winger Tegan Bowie put Celtic ahead after 12 minutes sending a low shot between the legs of Spartans goalkeeper Rachel Harrison.

The visitors responded within 90 seconds when Rosie McQuillan beat Chloe Logan with a low shot and she added a second just before the interval. Celtic's equaliser came in the 93rdminute through striker Charlie Wellings..

Hibernian beat Aberdeen 1-0 at the Tony Macaroni Arena to stay fourth, with Colette Cavanagh getting the only goal in the first half. Heart, were beaten 2-0 by Motherwell and are now bottom after Hamilton Accies' 2-2 away draw against Partick Thistle.
