Jon McLaughlin: No chance with both Aberdeen goals as he was let down by poor defending in front of him. He looked like calmness personified to play a pass to Connor Goldson with Jonny Hayes rushing in on 55 minutes and, that aside, never had an awful lot to do. 6

James Tavernier: Brushed off too easily by Brown for the Dons second goal. Posted missing on 17 minutes which allowed Ryan Hedges to take a shot on goal but put in a fantastic delivery for Alfredo Morelos to nod home Rangers' first. The skipper was nowhere to be seen again when Hedges found himself in acres of space to deliver a cross on 39 minutes and was caught in possession on 74 minutes that resulted in Marley Watkins racing away. He was bailed out by Goldson on that occasion and, although there were other misplaced passes and heavy touches, Tavernier made amends by firing home the spot-kick equaliser. 6

Calvin Bassey: Forced Joe Lewis into a save on four minutes from an angled effort after bringing down a pinpoint Goldson cross-field pass. Played a couple of drilled balls into Kemar Roofe but the forward couldn’t quite connect cleanly enough with them. Bassey showed great determination to nip in front of Ojo down the left-hand side before he was hauled to the ground by the Dons man. Produced a number of teasing deliveries into the box throughout the game, was sound defensively and showed terrific energy as always. 7

Connor Goldson: Played an outrageous diagonal pass to pick out Bassey on four minutes but was at fault for the opening Aberdeen goal five minutes later when his hospital pass to John Lundstram put the former Sheffield United man in all sorts of trouble. Goldson was dispossessed before the ball was played out wide, the resultant cross was nodded home by Christian Ramirez for the Dons opener. The centre-back did come close to redeeming himself at the other end but saw his shot blocked by Lewis Ferguson, while a bullet header was stopped by Lewis late in the half. Hleping Tavernier out aside, he was relatively untroubled all evening. 6

Leon Balogun: Despite the defensive errors he could be absolved of blame. He was his usual commanding self in the air and stood up well to Hayes' pressure. 6

Glen Kamara: A mixed bag for the Finnish midfielder. He played a slack pass towards Tavernier on 13 minutes that drifted out of play, thus feeling the full wrath of the crowd who were growing frustrated. Kamara then caught Hayes with a late lunge to give away a free kick on the half-hour mark and put Lundstram in all sorts of trouble on 44 minutes with a poor pass. There were a few misplaced passes in the second half too, although his quality shone through at times - not least his turn to take out two Dons players on the edge of the opposition area. 6

John Lundstram: Should be absolved of blame for the first goal despite being caught in possession as Goldson’s pass was a horror show. The Englishman was always looking to drive the team forward but was often left frustrated by the lack of movement. Replaced on 61 minutes for the more attack-minded Scott Arfield. 6

Joe Aribo: Produced a lovely lofted ball in behind towards Ianis Hagi on seven minutes but it was just ever so slightly overhit. Always looking to cause Aberdeen problems down the right-hand side but was often crowded out. Showed great skill using those long limbs of his to control a Ferguson clearance but faded in the second half and never imposed himself on the game. Subbed on 77 minutes for Scott Wright. 6

Ianis Hagi: Looked slightly off the pace, giving away possession on a couple of occasions and was often guilty of slowing play down by taking one too many touches. 6

Alfredo Morelos: Fresh from scoring his 100th goal for the club, made it 101 when he powered a header past Lewis after connecting with a terrific Tavernier free-kick. He and Scott Brown renewed their rivalry with the pair often tussling, so much so John Beaton had to have a word with them both in the second half like a couple of misbehaving schoolboys. Was named the sponsors' man of the match and probably just edged it on what was an ultimately disappointing night for the Light Blues. 7

Kemar Roofe: Had a couple of half-chances in the first half from Bassey crosses but couldn’t connect cleanly enough. Was also played through on goal by Aribo but couldn’t bring the ball down under complete control. Nonetheless, Roofe was constantly calling for the ball to be played into him from deep positions and at one stage was deep in conversation with Tavernier looking as if he was demanding more service. A frustrating evening ended on 77 minutes when he was replaced by Fashion Sakala. 6

Substitutes

Scott Arfield: Replaced Lundstram on 61 minutes and immediately took up a position just in behind the front three. Came close to connecting with a Wright cross on 85 minutes but gave away a cheap free kick in stoppage time that allowed Aberdeen to take the sting out the game. 4

Scott Wright: Replaced Aribo on 77 minutes and put in a great cross for Arfield but did not contribute much beyond that. 3

Fashion Sakala: Replaced Roofe on 77 minutes and made an immediate impact by winning the penalty after being upended by former Rangers defender David Bates. 5
