GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST is keen to replace Steven Gerrard as Rangers manager, according to a report.

On Wednesday, the Dutch legend revealed he was ready for his next venture into management.

The former Ibrox defender has been out of work since a spell with Guangzhou R&F in China last year.

He previously spent four years as manager of Feyenoord.

Now, with Steven Gerrard edging towards becoming Aston Villa's new boss, Van Bronckhorst wants to take over the reigns at Ibrox.

The Scottish Sun reports that the 46-year-old is keen to take on the Rangers job.

They say he could bring back ex-Light Blues coach Jan Wouters as his No 2.

Attentions for the Rangers board are now firmly on their recruitment process for replacing Gerrard and his backroom team, who will follow him to Villa.

Gerrard will pen a two-and-a-half year deal with the Premier League outfit, with the deal expected to go through within the next 48-hours.
