Allan McGregor: Wasn’t at fault for any of the three goals without looking like he would stop any. 6

James Tavernier: Defensively exposed but equally, individually poor in certain moments. Seemed to try and chest the ball for the opener, was out-ran by Boyle for the second. Also came infield often which left his side without a sniff of width on the right flank. 5

Connor Goldson: Endured a torrid 40 minutes in which he and his partner looked vulnerable from every ball slid down the side of the defence. Stepped up to leave space for the second goal and for the third instead of clearing the ball out of the park in a vulnerable moment, made a terrible error. A sitter on 87 minutes was symbolic of his day. 4

Leon Balogun: Was shaky and unreliable on the ball. Lost his man for the first goal and time and was turned for the second far too easily. Struggled in individual battles and allowed the ball to run through in the lead-up to Boyle’s penalty. So far off of the level needed. 4

Borna Barisic: Like Tavernier, wasn’t able to effectively stretch the play. Often pinned back by the threat of wing-backs and in doing so leaving gaps this system affords. Final ball was very poor and never looked dangerous one-on-one. 5

Scott Arfield: The goal he scored after Boyle’s penalty made the game contestable – willing running into the box allowing the Canadian to score with his left foot. That aside his lack of dribbling occasionally limited ball progression from the right. 6

Steven Davis: Conceded the penalty but was attempting to atone for errors made by both centre-backs. The only player to really get pass marks. Classy on the ball and covered so much ground. 7

Glen Kamara: Quiet in the first-half, perhaps could have stuck closer to both centre-backs when they were struggling against two forwards. Passed up too many opportunities to shoot as his side chased a way back into the game. 6

Joe Aribo: Started the game superbly, drawing two yellow cards within two minutes. Thereafter his inability to stick out wide on the right limited Rangers’ ability to stretch play. Only once overlapping Tavernier in the first half. A couple of efforts went close from around the box. Faded as the game wore on. 6

Alfredo Morelos: Absent throughout. Lost the physical battle. Made one run off of the shoulder of Hanlon but hit his shot straight at Matt Macey. Stayed higher when his side had possession but certainly wasn’t reliable enough as an out ball. One of his poorest performances in recent memory. 4

Ryan Kent: In the first half he played too centrally which led to the attacker often receiving in congested areas – instead of isolating markers. Never looked threatening. Made a few runs in behind which weren’t found with Goldson’s trademark diagonal. Was replaced on the hour. 5

Substitutes

Fashion Sakala: Introduced on the hour from the left but hardly saw the ball. Had one or two runs in the final third that were crowded out. 5

Ianis Hagi: Came on to play from the right but hardly saw the ball. 4

Ryan Jack: An unexplainable move saw Rangers bring on a third deep midfielder chasing two goals. Jack passed through the lines at pace on more than one occasion but it was a hard game for him to impact.

Scott Wright: Was too late and disjointed for the attacker to see much of the ball after coming on. 4

Calvin Bassey: Replaced Balogun for the final exchanges. Had little to do. 4
