JOHN FLECK has been taken to hospital after receiving "urgent medical attention" on the pitch during a match for Sheffield United against Reading.

The Scotland international is said to have collapsed on the pitch and required around ten minutes of treatment before returning to his feet.

Fleck, a former Rangers player, was then stretchered off the pitch after the horror incident.

Social media posts from Fleck's club Sheffield United read: "Concerning moments as urgent medical attention needed for John Fleck.

"Play is yet to restart but the Scottish midfielder is on his feet and receiving further medical care.

"Fleck leaves the field on a stretcher after receiving urgent medical care.

"Our thoughts are with you, Flecky!"

Fortunately Fleck was conscious when he left the stadium as he was taken to hospital, United confirmed.

A full-time update read: "3 points for the Blades. More importantly, John Fleck was conscious when he left the stadium via the ambulance gate.

"We'll provide supporters with a further update once known. Get well soon, John."
