DOUGLAS PARK has confirmed that Rangers will create a permanent memorial for Ibrox legend Walter Smith.

Smith passed away, aged just 73, earlier this month following a long battle with illness as Rangers lost one of their most iconic figures.

Thousands of supporters lined the streets outside Ibrox before his funeral service, whilst great names from across the game gathered at Glasgow Cathedral to pay their respects last Friday.

Park was asked about a memorial for Smith at the Rangers AGM on Tuesday morning and revealed that a list of possible options are being assessed at present.

Park said: "It goes to say that there are definitely negotiations and discussions. What the outcome is, we haven’t come to a decision yet. Rest assured, something will be done.

"There are three or four things we want to do. You need to trust us to do it.

"To go out publicly at a meeting is a difficult one. I think you have got to trust the board to make the right decisions.

"The memorial service went on and we have to continue from there with a decision what to do."
