Allan McGregor: The goalkeeper who turns 40 this month had a couple of saves to make in the opening 45 that were relatively routine. Was short rushing out of his goal prior to Hagi’s opener but didn’t make contact with Hedges. Sent the wrong way by Lewis Ferguson from the spot. 6

James Tavernier: His offensive impact was limited, aside from one misdirected cross which hit the post. Also arrived in the final third to fire a shot into the torso of David Bates early in the second period. Carried out his defensive responsibilities well. 6

Connor Goldson: Rangers’ vice-captain regained his form following the managerial change and appeared composed in this fixture. Tested his opponents with a few early long diagonals, although at times Ramirez cut off passes to the Englishman to limit Rangers. Defended his penalty box astutely. 6

Calvin Bassey: Resumed his berth at centre-back, where he was so impressive before the international break. Found Scott Wright early on with a crisp long pass that eliminated Jonny Hayes and also foraged through the park with a strong dribble. Stepped forward to defend aggressively at points. 6

Borna Barisic: Spoke yesterday about his game-upon-game instructions – it was clear he was told to hold his position when Rangers attacked in this fixture. A game that largely passed the Croatian by, albeit he was solid throughout. 6

James Sands: The 21-year-old was thrust in for his Rangers debut at the earliest opportunity and coped relatively well. Wasn’t spectacular on the ball but didn’t appear caught in the headlights. Used possession wisely and offered necessary protection in central areas. 6

Glen Kamara: The Finish midfielder had a quiet first 45, which was in part caused by Rangers’ desire to often bypass the midfield and play directly to either wing. Saw some more possession after the break but rarely impacted proceedings offensively. 5

Scott Wright: Making his first return to Pittodrie since moving to Ibrox, Wright had one or two first-half moments that didn’t quite materialise. Was close to playing himself in one-v-one after latching onto a Bassey through ball but slightly overcooked his involvement. Replaced on the hour. 5

Ianis Hagi: Handed his opportunity to play centrally given Joe Aribo remains on international duty with Nigeria. He was in the right place at the right time to cut across Lewis and put his side ahead. Tried to show for possession although a lack of build-up through the middle of the pitch hindered the Romanian's efforts. 7

Ryan Kent: Was Rangers’ most profitable forward option without looking at his best. That being said his delivery for the opener was excellent. Kent also caused a couple of turnovers and did his defensive work really well against a dangerous opponent in Calvin Ramsey. His sending off was perplexing and unjustified. 6

Alfredo Morelos: December’s player of the month returned to a ground where he has enjoyed both good and bad days and was quiet in a scrappy opening half. Linked play on a couple of occasions and took a shot on when a pass to Wright appeared more profitable. The service into the Colombian was scarce and often low in quality. Unfortunate to give away a penalty and to see a superb late volley saved. 6

Substitutes

John Lundstram: Came on after around an hour for Scott Wright to try and solidify the midfield. 4

Fashion Sakala: Introduced to the right-wing as Giovanni van Bronckhorst attempted to regain Rangers’ foothold. Was rarely involved but made one nice carry from a Lundstram diagonal. 4

Cedric Itten: Came on for the final few minutes. 4
