Jon McLaughlin: Survived an early mix up with Tavernier and thereafter had nothing to do bar one late save. 6

Leon Balogun: Making his return to the starting XI the Nigerian played to the right of Connor Goldson. Largely a quiet evening for the defender, who did go close from a corner. 6

Connor Goldson: Looked assured in possession and played more than one pass into the forward line, while always playing a step ahead of his opposing striker to prevent threats at source. 7

Jack Simpson: In from the cold for a rare start, he started to the left of a back three which afforded him license to join attacks in moments. Had little to do without the ball and played simple passes when in possession. Looked slightly unnatural playing as a fully-fledged left-back in the second half. 6

James Tavernier: Inverted in possession with Barker outside him. An early mix up with McLaughlin could’ve cost his side the lead, but the captain would add his side’s second before missing the chance to double his tally from the spot. Provided a few nice deliveries from wide and central areas. 7

John Lundstram: Starting at the base of midfield and moved possession well, often fizzing possession wide with either foot. Also tested the visiting keeper with a powered left-footed drive. As the game progressed and space increased, the 27-year-old broke into the final third with greater regularity and set up Cedric Itten unselfishly for the third. 7

Ianis Hagi: Was hardly involved before being forced off early through injury. 5

Brandon Barker: Appearing at Ibrox for the first time this season from the right-hand side, Barker found some success one-v-one but often struggled to back that up with consistent delivery. Rotated with Tavernier inside and out, found more joy attacking down the flank after the break. 6

Juninho Bacuna: An intelligent clipped ball to Tavernier led to the Rangers captain coming close to an assist around the 15-minute mark. Drew the frustration of his manager at points with poor decisions while also on occasion working well in tight spaces. Assisted the opener and used possession better in the second half. 7

Cedric Itten: The Swiss forward was sporadically involved, going close from a corner and Tavernier cross before a swivel and hit was blocked at close range. Showed a couple of nice touches around the penalty box, combining well with the inverting Fashion Sakala on more than one occasion. Got his goal after unselfish play from Lundstram. 7

Fashion Sakala: The brightest performer until Lowry’s entrance, Rangers often looked to switch the ball towards the Zambian as he posed a constant threat on the left touchline. His ability to cut inside or out allowed him room to get beyond his marker. Scored a deserved late goal. 7

Substitutes

Alex Lowry: Came on for the injured Hagi to make his debut and showed sparks of creativity in a half that lacked – capping his appearance with an impressively-taken goal, finishing back across the keeper as Rangers broke. Looked just as composed in the second half and was deservedly the man of the match. 8

Leon King: Came on in place of Leon Balogun. Dealt with any attacks comfortably. 5

Kemar Roofe: Returning from injury, the Jamaican forward was introduced to play behind Itten for the final half-hour or so. 5
