What are the reflections on Wednesday night?

It was just a disappointing night all round. I think we never really got going in the first half and at half time the game kind of got away from us. We felt if we got a goal we could change it but it wasn’t to be so a disappointing night but we move on.

Do you think from now up until the next Celtic game Rangers can’t afford to drop any points?

That’s always the challenge when you play for Rangers anyway, I don’t think that changes. Obviously, with the deficit we had and now we’ve not got that, we need to get back to winning games.

Winning games is the most important thing, performance sort of comes second, especially when you’re on a run like this. If the two marry together then it’s the perfect storm so hopefully, we can get back to winning games and take confidence from it.

Can you pinpoint what went wrong either with the game plan or the execution on Wednesday?

It was just a number of things. I think their rotation caused us problems. We knew what to expect in the first 10-15 minutes of the game and they took confidence from an early goal. We can take the positives from the second half, they never troubled us and if we got that goal then the game could’ve been different.

Can you tell us if your contract discussions have begun?

Yeah, they’ve begun. My agent is talking to the club at the minute. This is a club that I want to be a part of for a number of years and hopefully, we can get an agreement quite quickly. I’ve never said anything different, how happy I am here and how grateful I am to be at this football club so hopefully, that can get sorted as soon as possible.

Can you put your finger on what’s not quite clicking at the moment?

Not really to be honest. We have lost two games this season and we don’t want to lose any more. If we win all our games then I think we are in a better situation. There are plenty of games left to go, there are 14 and there is a lot of football to be played. It was a bad night for everybody. We can’t sugarcoat that but we move on as quickly as possible and it’s a massive game on Sunday.

You came up against Aaron Ramsay a few times down south, what kind of player are Rangers getting?

A terrific player. When I played against him he caused enormous problems and was one of the main players at Arsenal you had to do your research on. You knew that he was going to cause problems and create that opportunity or score that goal from midfield. He’s a terrific player, he’s come in and trained a couple of times and you can see his quality straight away and his CV speaks for itself with the clubs that he’s played for and the personnel he’s played with. He will help us enormously and hopefully, he gets fit as soon as possible and helps us on the pitch.

Do you think your chance against Celtic could have made a real difference?

Of course, it would have. Goals change games in any match you play in so if you manage to get that under control and score of course the game changes. Every game we go into here we think we can win. That was one that got away from us on Wednesday but you always have opportunities to put that right. Sunday is a massive game for us and we need to react in the right way, stick together and get the result everyone needs.

Have you watched the game back or is it one you put down to a bad day at the office?

You reflect on every game. You do your research pre and post-game. If you don’t do that you won’t move forward collectively and individually so, of course, we have watched it back. You won’t forget that feeling of walking off the pitch with that disappointment. That needs to be fuel to the fire for the remaining 14 games.
