Jay Hogarth: Forced into a couple of strong stops before the half-time break, meeting a Lopez shot well at his near post. He misplaced possession when his team played out on occasion. In the second half, his distribution when throwing the ball out was poor. 6

Adam Devine: Managed to overlap McCausland on a few occasions early on and put a couple of deliveries into the area. After a bright start, his influence faded and he could only really get forward on the counter. 6

Robbie Fraser: A really quiet opening period that featured no real attacking intent, was beaten by Zarzana early in the second half in the lead up to the opener. Did get forward slightly more often post-break running up the line. 7

Leon King: Guilty of misplacing a few early passes into the midfield but his options were limited and therefore distribution forced. Faced increasing pressure from the visitors and defended his box well. 6

Kyle McClelland: Had plenty of defending to do at the end of the first period and was strong in his tackles. Coming up against the impressive Carlos Alvarez he dealt generally well with the threats posed. On the ball like the rest of the defence, he struggled to get the ball into dangerous areas. 6

Murray Miller: Although it seemed clear that his team were trying to play quickly into the opposition half, on occasions this led to Miller not getting on the ball when he should have done. Was booked for a late tackle soon after the interval as he struggled to combat the threat of Alvarez. 5

Alex Lowry: Playing from the left, he offered Rangers their first foray into the final third as he rode two challenges to move play to the right-hand side. Given the freedom to drift infield at points, Lowry always used possession well and looked a level about his teammates with his quick feet in tight areas and whipped passes. A mazy run just on the hour nearly opened up a clear chance but Lowry slightly overplayed at the end of the move. A late shot just evaded the bar. 7

Cole McKinnon: Playing to the right of a midfield three, McKinnon got up and down well but the rotations on the right alongside Devine and Lindsay lacked fluidity. A quiet afternoon all told. 6

Robbie Ure: Had one tame effort held by the keeper after attacking a cross early on. Held the ball up well in moments but suffered from a lack of options supporting him in and around the penalty box. As time wore he started to lose the battle with Seville No.4 Fuentes and didn’t threaten to score. 5

Charlie Lindsay: Much of his involvement came in the defensive phase during the opening period and Lindsay only had one real moment running forward with the ball. Replaced by Weston before the hour mark as Rangers sought a route back. 5

Ross McCausland: Bright and aggressive on the right side in early moments, winning a couple of tackles and testing Lopez in the opposition goal with a shot from a tight angle. Picked out Lowry with a crisp pass in transition on his right foot. Faded after the first 20 minutes. 6

Substitutes

Tony Weston: Introduced minutes after the restart to try and give Rangers a better foothold up the pitch. Didn’t make much of an impact on proceedings until a late cross was so nearly turned in by Wilson. 6

Arron Lyall: Came on to play on the left but it wasn’t until he was moved to the right he managed to go beyond his man and float a far post delivery. 5

Rory Wilson: Had his side’s best chance of the game as Weston found him in the area but Lopez was down quickly to stop. 6
