READING have confirmed that former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae has joined the club as their new interim assistant manager.
Rae, 52, will join Paul Ince, Michael Gilkes and Mikele Leigertwood in the Royals dugout tonight ahead of their meeting with Birmingham City.
The former Dundee and St. Mirren manager is well known to interim manager Ince, after they played together in midfield for Wolves from 2002 to 2004.
This isn't the first time Ince and Rae will have worked together as management staff either, Rae assisted the former-England captain during his time as boss of Blackpool during the 2013/14 season.
A club statement added: "As a player, Rae racked up 585 appearances during a career spanning 23 years. A Scottish Premier League winner in 2005, twice promoted from England's First Division with Sunderland and Wolves, we'd like to extend a warm welcome to Alex!
"We would also like to take this opportunity to wish Marko Mitrovic, Nuno Gomes and Quinton Fortune all the best for the future and thank them for their hard work following their departure from the club."
