ALLAN MCGREGOR'S place in the Rangers team has been questioned by some after a couple of mistakes this season.

But pundits Derek McInnes and Kenny Miller defended McGregor as they insisted he showed his quality with a "world-class" penalty stop against Red Star Belgrade.

And McInnes slammed the "numpties" who aimed criticism at McGregor and even doubted whether he was at the level to perform at Ibrox.

The keeper made a number of vital stops in the 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade at Ibrox - with a stunning penalty stop from Aleksandar Katai the pick of the bunch.

The BT Sport pundits were left in awe of the saves and insisted if McGregor had any making up to do, then the penalty stop was more than enough.

Miller beamed: "This is where I said Allan had a chance to make up

"That is a world-class save, he's the best in the business at penalties. That save is sensational."

And McInnes slammed critics of McGregor, adding: "He's been such a key player for Rangers over the years, time and time again he comes up at key moments.

"All these numpties that criticise him and say he's done and all the rest of it, listen; you make a mistake when you're a young keeper, you make a mistake when you're an old keeper and he has made a few.

"But he more than makes up for it with stuff like that. That is an outstanding save. "
