STEVEN GERRARD has admitted he has concerns over his future as Aston Villa boss.

The former Rangers manager conceded he is aware of the mounting pressure on him to succeed after a tough start to the Premier League season.

Gerrard - who left for Villa in February - has endured a horror run of results with just one win and four losses in the first five league games.

Villa have suffered losses to Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Arsenal so far this season with their only league win coming against Everton.

As a result of the disappointing start to the season the club sits 19th in the table and Gerrard has admitted he's fearful he could be relieved of his duties.

Quizzed on whether he has any concerns over his future as the Aston Villa manager on BT Sport, Gerrard was brutally honest as he said: "Of course I do."

He continued: "I'm really honest and critical of myself.

"I'll do my job to the best I can do it. I'll step forward, I'll take the responsibility in the best way I can.

"But if I stood here and said to you that I wasn't concerned I think you'd look at me as if I was from a different planet.

"Is that right?"

The interviewer then answered: "Probably", before Gerrard concluded: "Yeah, there you go."
