JOHN LUNDSTRAM insists Rangers produced a 'proper performance' to help restore confidence levels with victory over Motherwell.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side bounced back from their Champions League humiliation against Liverpool with a narrow 2-1 win at Fir Park on Sunday.

Malik Tillman opened the scoring in the second half before Lundstram's header clinched the three points to keep Rangers within touching distance of Celtic in the Premiership title race.

The pressure was on Van Bronckhorst's squad following the comprehensive defeat at Ibrox in midweek and it was a largely low-key showing despite a crucial top flight triumph.

Lundstram said: "It was a big one. Before the game we knew it was going to be a tough day for us.

"They are at home, they always put the pressure on. It was needed today. It was a proper performance from the boys.

"We had to dig deep, it wasn’t about being pretty. To get the three points was pleasing.

"When they get the goal from cross come shot, of course it is going to be [nervy]. They are going to put the pressure on to try and get the equaliser.

"It is easy to play when you are losing a game of football, it is easy to keep coming and coming. When you are leading games it is about trying to be solid, which I thought we were.

"Of course [confidence is dented] is when you come off the back of a defeat like we had in midweek.

"I thought we were really good for 55, 60 minutes, even though it is a side like Liverpool and we know what they can do to teams.

"Coming off a defeat like that, of course confidence is going to be low. There has been a lot of talk about trying to bounce back and thankfully we did that."
